1 Samuel chapter 1 records the story of a couple named Elkanah and Hannah who were unable to have children, and it was a source of sorrow and shame for Hannah. She prayed to the Lord to give her a son, promising that she would dedicate her son back to the Lord for his entire lifetime. God answered her prayer, and she had a son named Samuel, which means asked of God. As she had promised, Hannah brought Samuel to the temple and dedicated him back to the Lord. Not only did Samuel spend his entire life in service to God, but he was used in powerful ways by God, he was the only person to serve in all three roles of prophet, priest and judge to the nation of Israel, and he anointed the first two kings of Israel, Saul and David.

We believe that it is good and biblical to dedicate our children to the Lord, with the intention that we will teach them to serve Him all their lives, and that God will use them in great ways for His plans and purposes. In this way baby dedication is an act of the parents to dedicate themselves to the will and ways of God for their family.
