So What Are You Going
To Do NEXT?
(Follow-up to the 40 Days of Purpose)
Part ONE: The
Delusion of Staying Where We Are
Some of the stuff we looked
at:
-
2 Kings 7:3-11 - Story of
the lepers who encountered an amazing opportunity
-
This is not the finish
line... this is the starting line.
-
Crawling is good... but what
if you were meant to run?
-
The risk of heading out into
the harbour: you might run into a storm. The question is, are you
fulfilling your purpose when the storm comes?
-
Isaiah 43:16-19 - Forget
the former things. Don't dwell on the past. I'm doing a new thing.
-
We have human tendencies
that keep us in the harbour and prevent us from launching out into where
God wants to lead us:
-
To think that God and His purposes are meant to
revolve around us and our lives.
-
To seek to relive the same moments we once had,
based on good memories.
-
To stay where we are and make theologies and
philosophies out of experiences.
-
Israel constantly wanted to
go back to Egypt: familiarity, predictability, certainty, safety,
security - but it was slavery!
-
Jesus' transfiguration (Luke
9): Peter wanted to just stay there. But it wasn't part of the
mission. It was what happened after they came down from the
mountain that was the mission! (Read it and see what it was.)
-
The Delusion: We
think that safety is the priority. We think that familiarity is
security. We think that predictability is stability. We think that
certainty is a reality. We think that faith is discovered visually.
-
It's not just about what God
is doing IN you, but what He wants to do WITH you and THROUGH you!

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Do you want to stay where you are? Talk about why or why not.
What should we do next? What are you going to do next?
How are you going to live what you've learned?
In what ways are you going to share what you've learned? |
