DRESSED TO KILL

Week 1 - Introduction: Stand Firm

Ephesians 6:1-18

"The thief comes only to steal and to kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10

Peace won by the compromise of principle is to devalue the very purpose of the battle in the first place.

Six Principles for Meeting the Attacks of the Enemy

A. The Principle of Reality  Eph. 6:12

B. The Principle of Respect  1 John 4:4

C. The Principle of Redemption  1 John 3:8

D. The Principle of Removal  1 Tim. 6:11

E. The Principle of Resistance  James 4:7

F. The Principle of Readiness  Mark 14:38

When Do I Need to Stand Firm?  Matthew 4

1. When I'm tempted  2 Cor. 10:13

2. When I wonder if all of this is really worth it  Heb. 11:25

3. When my life lacks direction and purpose  Prov. 3:6; Isaiah 30:21

4. When I'm hung up with guilt even after asking for forgiveness  Rom. 8:1; 1 John 1:9

5. When I pray and feel like I'm just talking to the ceiling  1 John 5:14-15; Jer. 29:12-14

6. When tough times come and things happen that I don't understand  Micah 7:8; James 1:3-4

7. When I want to quit  2 Cor. 4:8-9

Prayer was meant to be a wartime walkie-talkie. Sadly, many people find that prayer doesn’t work, because they use it as a domestic intercom to ring the maid for another pillow, rather than use it to call in air support.
