DRESSED TO KILL Week 2 - The Shoes of Readiness Ephesians 6:1-18 Mark out a straight path for your feet. Then those who follow you, though they are weak and lame, will not stumble and fall but will become strong. Hebrews 12:13 Jesus got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel he had around him. John 13:4 How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of peace and salvation, the news that our God reigns. Isaiah 52:7 Roman Battle Shoes A Roman soldier's shoes had nails in the bottom that gave him good footing over rugged terrain for long distances. The shoes represent the gospel of peace, which gives us a sure footing. English Battle Gear Early English battle gear included steel footwear which gave good protection. If our feet or legs are injured, we are basically immobilized and unable to be effective as soldiers. Readiness The shoes represent the readiness to share the good news about Jesus... ready to declare, ready to speak out and speak up.
People won't hear unless someone is sent. If you have Jesus in your heart, you have beautiful feet. Get your shoes on and move forward in the fight! |
